AN OPEN WINDOW IN VILSHOFEN – GERMANY
On the 27 June 2018 I visited Vilshofen, Germany and whilst walking one of the many colorful, small, cobbled laneways I came across this open window from what was a café at some point, captured my eye and then my camera lens.
One of my artistic passions is to paint colorful interesting painting from photo’s I have taken over the world. This painting of “An open window in Vilshofen, Germany” is one of many paintings I have completed from photo’s I have taken.
This painting is only a small part of the whole photo I took as I wanted to go into the window and see what more I could find. The reflection on the window glass to the left captured my eye as did the old coffee machine and scales. Then when you step back, you see the window wooden closures, the chair sitting in front, the blackboard with words written in chalk and the colors used in the materials to create the building this window sits in.
This photo captured my love for colorful elements on and in buildings, the story of the people that lived in this old café, the people who have visited and the old coffee machine and scales that just simply sit on a table in the window. I hope the open window in my painting draws you to look in inside and see the simplicity of what is in the window as well as the complexity of the material and colors used to create this special building.

REFLECTIONS OF A SPHERE or two or three
Coral, Green, and Violet
On the 25 June 2018 I visited Vienna, Austria, and took several photos of a Sphere which was lit up whilst walking through the underground passages of a winery. As the passage was dark the sphere was lit up projecting its reflections all around it. There reflections were so intriguing that I knew one day I would paint from this photo. Four years Later I have achieved this desire and have made a trio of paintings of the sphere and its intriguing reflections one coral, one green and one violet.
One of my artistic passions is to paint colorful interesting painting from photo’s I have taken over the world. The paintings of this Sphere and its Reflections are some of the many paintings I have completed from photo’s I have taken.
I have simply loved painting this trio of spheres as I LOVE Color and how it makes me feel and it also takes into another place other than painting commissions which I love too. So, I hope the colors in these paintings draw you in, like they do me and that the reflections in the painting make you ponder what could be in the dark.

Five Wise Owls sitting in a Gum Tree
I have painted this painting in memory of our friend Pat Cronin who passed away in April 2016 as a result of a Coward Punch. This painting is being entered into the Pat Cronin Foundation Art Show which is being held at Monsalvat, Eltham, Victoria in April 2021.
This is the poem I wrote to explain my painting:
—————————————————————-
Five Wise Owls sitting in a gum tree…
The youngest says, guys, do not forget me.
The others say to him that, that would never be,
Because of you Pat, we now all kneel to plea.
Because Pat, as a consequence of what happened that day,
Is the message we are telling people in our unique way.
To be courageous, have your mates back and protect those you love,
By being wise, walk away and do not throw down the glove.
Come home to your family, and all your friends, and make the most of your precious life,
Because as we all know, the other way, is a long journey into strife.
So, younglings, spread you wings and go into the night,
And protect those around you and then you can all enjoy the light.
Remember Pat, with a smile, whenever you look up into the skies,
Never forgetting to enjoy, have fun, but always remembering to especially “Be Wise”.
